last weekend - we had an appointment...i was really dreading it...then magically friday night i spied out an estate sale...right in the neighborhood of the other un-pleasantry!! funny how your perspective can change - well mine anyway!!
i am not looking for anything particular..i just enjoy picking quirky little things those 'dealers' aren't snatching up! as i spied my first treasure...it was overlooked by quite a few - but i knew i had to have it! a vintage frog! and metal! clear glass frogs are easier to come by - but metal!! and like a bed spring!! how fun!
then a bit further - i spied its cousin- a glass one - green glass! perfect to add to my tiny collection at home
honestly - in this day of re=using and recycling, frogs are actually quite practical. they are unique and gorgeous to display - yet useful when arranging an sweet bouquet of flowers... and living in a small space, anything that is collectible and still usable - bonus!!
i still want one more - the metal cage-style, in green of course!!
i also rescued a sweet crazy quilt - its just perfect with tears and all!! it will hang with a couple of other quilts on an old ladder my father in law made with old barn wood.
and lastly - love this old pottery piece. the color attracted me - but as soon as i touched it - i knew i had to have it! there is a feel to the glazes used on pottery from the early 1900's. once you touch it - you know!
it is an english piece - crown devon...dated by the makers mark during the 1930's...
they all make me smile when i note them - a bit of history, nestled in new places...
makes me even happier than a new pair of shoes....well...

this has got to be one of my favorite pieces...silver circles and various vintage crystal - and a stunning vintage crystal clasp! oh it s just gorgeous! and one lucky girl received it as an anniversary gift today!! it is 32" long - perfect for wearing long or wrapping a couple of times around!
i wanted to wrap it in a bit larger box than i usually carry...the box i purchased - was just what i wanted - except! it need a cotton pad - or something to rest the silver on...
i take pages and a picture from old books, pretty much paper mache them on...i love this sweet couple romancing on this one!
i ended up making a little 'pillow' from a vintage hankie... first i fitted some cotton bunting for the bottom of the box....
i cut the hankie in half, stitched the raw edge, turned and pressed it.
then slipped the cotton inside and stitched around the edge of the cotton.
it fit snugly into the bottom of the box!!
i think it turned out really sweet - what do you think!?
to keep the box closed, i slid a vintage button on some slim grey velvet ribbon. it slides to tighten - so can open and close... honestly - i had a had time giving it up!!
on march 4, 1994 at 8 am jayme lynn entered our world. the second daughter into our little family. a healthy pregnancy, scary delivery, and a baby born blue...we held our breath as we waited for hers - minutes that seemed like hours - and then a cry! from baby and then parents!
so as we celebrated her 16 years - the days were filled with her favorite things!!

what more could a girl wish for - except maybe her drivers license!!

as for my exciting news! i have been accepted to teach my memento charms at the 15th annual puget sound bead festival! developing the memento charms has been an exhaustive learning process in working with resin - making a finished product that is professional and personal, but most of all unique! i feel like i have achieved that and now so excited to be able to share it!!!
the festival runs july 8 - 11 in tacoma. my class will be friday, july 9 from 9-5...oh please come join me if you can!!
i was able to go to the meet the teacher event on march 12 at the bead factory in tacoma! the anticipation was great as the doors of the classroom were opened and excited students poured into the room - eager to finger class samples, meet teachers, juggle schedules - and choose classes! i met so many lovely people - many of whom i'm sure to see in july!! i was able to meet other teachers as well as viki lareau who founded and melissa who coordinates the show. they were so welcoming and encouraging! now i'm really counting down the days!!
