so much of north america is under winter siege...doesnt this sweet bit of color just make you dream of wonderful warmer days!! here in vancouver its cold - but nothing like that icy winter storm blowing through the midwest and east coast right now!!
these beautiful - gorgeous bloom arrived on my doorstep this afternoon...what i love about our family - we just stretch birthdays out!! told my husband i think i wouldnt mind another - birthday - traditional coffee and doughnuts for breakfast tomorrow!! i dont mind celebrating my bday for a month!! its been fun!!
the melon and yellow roses are just luscious...and sweet tulips sprinkled within!! thanks, sis!!
i've been on a bit of a soup kick lately! also on my birthday - i was the lucky recipient of a cast iron dutch oven..in a limey green! (thanks other sis!!) and perfect for simmering rustic meals on these cold winter nights!!
and a new family fav - sausage and potato soup!! oh my goodness!! my teenagers have asked for it two and three nights in a row!!
saute 1 pound sausage( i like johnsonville) with chopped garlic, remove sausage from the pan.
add in diced potatoes - saute in sausage drippings. when potatoes are tender, add sausage back in...sprinkle with flour. cook 1 - 2 minutes.
add 2 boxes of chicken or vegetable broth, 1-2 diced carrots, 1/2 tsp cumin, dried basil.
simmer till veggies are tender. add 1/2 cup diced green pepper. cook 10 minutes more.
serve with bread!! i promise you're family will want more!!
tomorrow night i am thinking of a meatball soup...what do you think!?
for now...happy wednesday!!
