i am getting such a kick our of these vintage dictionary drops! they are made from old dictionaries (i am always hunting!!). i love the yellowed pages, made transparent, yet still readable by the resin as it soaks in and preserves. the words remind, declare, share a thought or feeling.

i think one of my favorite pastimes must be beachcombing.... leisurely strolling at waters edge sans shoes, sifting through sand and stones for glistens of beach glass, cold smooth stones and bits and pieces of shells...tumbled and softened by their time in the sea!
i've been working on ways to preserve thses bits and pieces...wanna see?!

i am loving the dictionary drops - the first one here is charmed with a vintage shoe button and faceted garnet briolette.

i needed a little pouch to mail some little parts - not wanting to go the ole' ziploc route - i decided to make my own! out of a page from an old poem book.
i like the torn look so tore my page to the size i wanted - but you could trim your with scissors!! tear page to size. fold a flap over at the top - but dont sew it down.... i just used a regular polyester white thread and sewed on my machine with long stitches - but dont back stitch at the ends.
slip in your vintage paper bits!!
to hold it closed, thread a seed bead, vintage sequin and sew through front and back of pouch.
on backside, add another seed bead. sew back through to the front of the pouch.
tie off with a knot. leave threads kind of long!
done and ready to give!
its great - you can make whatever size you. unique. and really it takes longer to thread your sewing machine than to sew it!!

ok! been finalizing my little boxes for the nesting matchbox swap....took a few pictures before they were sent... its really no fun to show off the surprise early...and i'm terrible at keeping secrets! so here is just a little sneak peek - for any who really care!
i'll show you more and do a couple of how to's next week after they have safely reached their destinations!!
and contrary to others in my little nesting group - there was no chocolate harmed in the making of this project!

i look at the last date i posted - what - the 31st..i tell you the time just speeds on... i have a couple of bigger projects i am trying to wrap my head around, throw in a few drop in guests a day here and there (its really because my studio is my dining room! and i really don't like my 'stuff' all out there to with guests in the house - why...i don't know!!!)
and i included myself into a little match box nesting swap - because i thought things would be quiet and i could spend lots of time playing and creating!...well - the swap boxes have to be out this afternoon - and i am having so much fun fidgeting and packing them...i'll post a few pics later today (but i don't want to give away the secrets to my partners either!!)...but when i'm supposed to be working - i find myself playing with my little swap boxes! i am happy with how they have come together...two are staying in canada, one is off to belgium!!so - i am completing a couple more teaching proposals, magazine submissions, and a trunk show scheduled in just under two weeks( with two classes as well!)...i am taking photos - i'll get some posted as i go!!
here are some new vintage dictionary drop earrings i made - and posted in the shop! i love them!
one pair says 'can' and 'able', the other 'hocus pocus'!! more are on the way as well as the new vintage bits on cuff links!
